Radisys’ Media Server Wins 2016 WebRTC Product of the Year Award

Multimedia processing solution leads the industry with ability to connect and interwork WebRTC endpoints

HILLSBORO, OR, U.S. – April 4, 2016 Radisys® Corporation (NASDAQ: RSYS), the services acceleration company, today announced that its MediaEngine™ Media Resource Function (MRF) is a 2016 WebRTC Product of the Year Award winner, as named by TMC, a global, integrated media company. The Media Server portfolio, including the Virtualized MRF (vMRF) and the purpose-built MPX-12000 Broadband MRF, supports the real-time multimedia processing and transcoding requirements for WebRTC communications services.

WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communications) is an API definition from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) which supports browser-to-browser real-time voice and video communication services. However, to ensure broad adoption of the technology, WebRTC endpoints will also need to communicate with IMS/VoLTE and PSTN endpoints. Radisys’ Media Server portfolio delivers broad codec support, connecting and interworking WebRTC endpoints using VP8 (video) and OPUS (audio) with VoLTE, 3G and SIP endpoints for flexible IP-to-IP transcoding and transrating. Radisys’ Media Server portfolio also powers advanced WebRTC communication services such as contact centers, unified communications and real-time multimedia collaboration solutions.

“With our technology partners, Radisys connects the vast installed base of mobile and fixed phone systems with the new world of WebRTC communication applications, delivering cost-efficient media processing services for users of web browsers, mobile devices and enterprise telephony,” said Grant Henderson, vice president, MediaEngine and Corporate Marketing, Radisys. “We believe that WebRTC is a transformational technology in the modern communications era, not only for Over The Top providers, but for Enterprise and traditional service providers as well. We’re pleased to be recognized for our contributions toward WebRTC adoption with this award.”

Radisys’ Media Server uniquely offers a OneMRF strategy – one platform for all real-time media processing services and applications. Media Server extends WebRTC applications with advanced media mixing capabilities for collaboration or call center applications, while positioning traditional telecom and mobile network operators to extend their existing IMS communication service offerings to web endpoints using WebRTC. In addition, Radisys’ Media Server portfolio is the only offering in the industry which delivers a choice of high-density, carrier-grade hardware, software or cloud deployment options to meet customers’ specific scale and operational requirements.

“It gives me great pleasure to honor Radisys as a 2016 recipient of the WebRTC Product of the Year Award for its innovative product, Media Server MRF,”said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. “Our judges were very impressed with the ingenuity and excellence displayed by Radisys in its groundbreaking work on Media Server.”
